“Hello all! My name is Kendall Mae Campana and I am so excited to be continuing my educational journey at Timberline Middle School! This will be my I have been teaching middle school science education since 2018, and been involved in a school-oriented career since 2015. I have previously taught/worked at Central Kitsap, Hood Canal, Chehalis, Napavine, and Onalaska school districts in a variety of different positions ranging from special education kindergarten to ELL high school studies. I have made it a point in my career to become an advocate for students’ rights in advanced science curriculum and have helped to create female specific science content and workshops. I currently have my master’s in middle level science with a minor in physical science, and am actively pursuing a doctorate degree this upcoming year in social work/science studies. I am a science nerd at heart and have continued my love of the subject in working with outside organizations such as the Murdock Trust Foundation with Teachers in Science, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center Science Education Partnership, and Washington Science Teacher Association which allow me to work as a science researcher on different projects to not only present my findings at national conferences but also to bring back valuable researching skills and learnings to introduce to my students. When I’m not teaching, you can find me traveling the world, working with foster care/special need organizations, or enjoying outdoor activities such as snowboarding, surfing, and hiking.
I see Timberline as a thriving school environment and felt drawn to it the moment I set foot onto campus. I want my students to fall in love with science just like I had the opportunity to do when I was their age and I see TMS as one of the best opportunities for them to do just that! Seeing that this district values diversity based inclusion such as cultural, socioeconomic, gender and gender identity, and multiple intelligences, including of course students in special education, support classes, and ELL programs makes me feel supported knowing that my morals alight with theirs. I believe that Timberline truly cares about its student’s beliefs, emotions, outside lives, and everything in between, and I cannot wait to be a part of that community.”
