Melisa started her teaching career working in Orange County, CA in 2016 after completing her undergrad at San Diego State University. She completed her M.S.  through WGU Over the years she has taught Robotics, 6th and 7th grade science, Green and Sustainable Design, and Medical Detectives. She has been involved with VEX Robotics since 2018 and has hosted numerous VEX IQ tournaments in CA and WA.

Melisa was born in Turkey and is bilingual in English and Turkish; she moved to California in 2009. After university and work in California she moved to WA in 2018 and loves the outdoors! She is currently teaching 6th science and CTE classes as well as helping with the Robotics club!

Melisa shared, “I am very excited to be at Timberline Middle School! I am looking forward to growing student minds with the power of science and social-emotional learning! As someone who loves a challenge, I feel very fortunate to be a part of a community where we get to build a positive, inclusive, and fun environment! I am very excited to help my students navigate their way through middle school and provide them with a safe learning environment where they can practice being character strong! Using project-based learning, I am aiming to guide my students down a path of understanding that they play an essential role in developing positive relationships, all the while learning about real world problems and developing creative solutions!”
