Linda earned her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Mathematics Education from Ohio State University, she spent five years teaching 7th and 8th grade math in the suburbs of Chicago. During that time, Linda completed a master’s degree in education at Saint Xavier University. Once she became a parent, Linda decided to leave the classroom and focus on working with students on an individual basis by providing private math tutoring. This was her professional focus in San Diego and Seattle for approximately 20 years. Through tutoring, she worked with students studying content ranging from fifth-grade math through AP Statistics and Calculus. What brought Linda back to teaching in the classroom was her work with a Boston-based publishing company that sells and supports both an online diagnostic/instructional program and a K-8 math textbook series. Working as a Professional Development Specialist provided Linda the opportunity to train teachers and administrators on the use of these programs. This was a fascinating and rewarding job which helped her to see how much she missed being in the classroom teaching children. So, Linda made the switch back to the classroom setting. She is currently teaching 7th and 8th grade math at Evergreen Middle School.
Linda shared, “Shortly after starting at Evergreen Middle School, I had the opportunity to hear Heidi Paul describe her vision for a school with a focus on social and emotional learning curriculum as well as Service Learning. The idea of a school crafted around these principles, in partnership with teachers and administrators, intrigued and excited me. Her passion for the task at hand was evident and sparked me to want to know more about the process, the implementation team, and the plan for the new school. I am excited for the opportunity to work with the members of this team and am honored to be a part of the staff moving forward.”
