FAQ

What is the Associated Student Body? (ASB)
The Associated Student Body is made up of a cabinet of eight 8th graders. Each person has their special role and they work as a team to implement new ideas to the Timberline community.

What does the ASB do?
The Associated Student Body (ASB) is a student-led organization focused on enhancing the school experience. It plans and coordinates events such as dances and fundraisers, engages in community service, and represents the student voice in school governance. The ASB fosters leadership development, manages budgets, communicates with the student body, and promotes inclusivity and diversity. It strives to build school spirit, recognize student achievements, and serve as a support system during challenging times, contributing to a positive and vibrant school culture.

How can I be a part of ASB?
At the beginning of February, Mr. Wojcek will hold a FLEX for all those who are interested in joining ASB. To run for ASB you must be a 7th grader going into 8th grade. You need to fill out a Microsoft form along with two teacher recommendations. You are recommended, but not required, to create a PowerPoint slide along with a speech to promote your campaign. Additional information will be provided for you on February something.

How are ASB officers elected?
After viewing your speech and slide, students have the opportunity during PACK time to vote for the officers they want. Each person has one vote to give for each position and you may vote for yourself.

What is the ASB budget and how do you manage it?
The ASB budget is how much money we as a school have, the Treasurer is in charge of handling documents to sign for transactions, etc. We also hold fundraisers such as Timberline Games, clothing & food drives, fundraisers for sporting events, and volunteering around the community to help our ASB budget to have more events for the school.

How does the ASB promote the school spirit and unity?
We promote school unity by organizing events, encouraging student involvement and leadership, fostering community service, representing the student body, facilitating communication, boosting school spirit, and recognizing student achievements. Through these initiatives, ASBs contribute to a positive school culture, inclusivity, and a sense of pride and belonging among students.

What is the ASB's role in addressing student concerns or issues?
We take in issues and suggestions our peers at Timberline have, and with that we can find solutions to solve it together as a team. The Associated Student Body cabinet will often talk to admins about how to address the issue.

How are ASB decisions made?
2 to 3 times a month, during FLEX, we have an ASB cabinet meeting to discuss issues or any ways to make our school better, we talk as a team together to reach a conclusion and if the majority of the group agrees on a decision, we carry that act out.

What leadership and skill-building opportunities does the ASB provide?
Participating in the Associated Student Body offers students valuable leadership and skill-building opportunities. Members gain experience in event planning, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, decision-making, public speaking, organizational skills, community service, conflict resolution, networking, creative thinking, time management, inclusivity, and adaptability. ASB involvement provides a well-rounded development experience, preparing students for future challenges and responsibilities.
