Timberline Middle School Math Club

Description:

Math Club is open to all Timberline MS students (grades 6-8) who are interested in math enrichment and competition opportunities. There will be opportunities to participate in math competitions and service learning / volunteering activities.  Students will get to solve challenging math problems independently as well as collaboratively. The overall goal is to improve problem-solving skills, build friendships, and make a positive difference in the community using math knowledge. 

Commitment: 

• Attend club meetings/practice sessions – Once per month during FLEX or after school, from October through the beginning of May (exact schedule will be sent to registered members) 
•  Recommended: Participate in at least one math competition through the club. 
• Potential travel to regional, state, or national competitions is available based on qualification and interest

Expenses:

• School ASB fee (one time per year, school-wide fee for any students joining any school clubs); must pay ASB fee to join math club
• $20 fee to join Math Club for the 2025-2026 school year  
• Possible additional fees for optional tournaments 
• Additional expenses for state or national competitions if students qualify and choose to participate

    • Additional mtgs in Feb - May TBD  

  • Math Club Peer Tutor volunteers – weekly during FLEX; Math club members in 8th and 7th grade can apply in early October (tutoring starts in mid-October) 

• Competition Dates and Deadlines: 

  • American Mathematics Competition- AMC10A is 11/5/2025, AMC8 is 1/28/2026 

  • MathCounts – School Competition 12/4/2025

  • MathCounts - Chapter Competition Feb 2026 (exact date TBD) 

  • LWSD Math Olympiad, Spring 2026 (exact date TBD) 

HOW TO REGISTER FOR MATH CLUB (registration starts 9/1/2025, ends 9/30/2025):

Detailed registration instructions posted below. Payment for the ASB fee and the club fee will be completed online as described below.   
Registration is a two-step process. The last day to register for math club is  September 30th, 2025. 

• Step 1: Pay Timberline ASB fees online through https://payments.lwsd.org    
• Step 2: Pay $10 Math Club fee online through https://payments.lwsd.org   
   

Note:  

• ASB and Math Club Fee are paid once per year, per child.  

• Online payment has a convenience fee applied per transaction.  

• Inability to pay the math club fee will not keep a student out of math club.  Please email David Leviten directly at dleviten@lwsd.org to request a scholarship and the $10 fee will be waived.
