Science Olympiad (SO)
Science Olympiad is an American middle school and high school team competition in which students compete in 'events' pertaining to various scientific disciplines, including earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering.
Details will be published soon.
National Science Bowl (NSB)
The National Science Bowl (NSB) is a high school and middle school science knowledge competition using a quiz bowl format held in the United States. A buzzer system similar to those seen on popular television game shows is used to signal an answer.
NSB teams are formed through rank testing. Students take exams in different subject areas. The top students from each subject are then selected for positions on the teams. If throughout the year a student drops from a team, the next ranked student will be offered their position.
Teams will be formed prior to October 1st.
You Be The Chemist Challenge (YBTC)
The You Be The Chemist Challenge® is an interactive academic contest that encourages students in grades 5-8 to explore chemistry concepts and their real-world applications.
YBTC is also exam selected. Students will take an exam and the top students will join the Timberline YBTC team. This event will be announced later in the year.
