Science Olympiad State Champs

WA Science Olympiad Div B State Champions TMS Alpha students: Aadarsh, Diya, Ishan, Joshika, Kimberly, Naman, Nandika, Neil, Pragathi, Rohan, Ronav, Sachita, Shivank, Sreevats, Suhani, showcasing their medals and trophies won this year.

The Science Olympiad Division B competition is the hallmark of teamwork and academic rigor for middle school science enthusiasts. Teams of 15 students pair up to compete in 23 different science and engineering build events, studying topics from high school and beyond. For a team to advance to the next level, every student contributes with a top score in their respective subject, and so, the competition is a true test of teamwork.

In the 2022 season, Timberline Middle School competed with a total of 90 students organized into 6 teams. In the NW Regionals tournament held on March 6th, 5 of the 6 Timberline teams finished strong within the top 15. Of those, two teams advanced to the Washington State tournament that was held on April 6, where team TMS Beta placed third in state with 3 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals. TMS Alpha placed first, as Washington State Science Olympiad Champions, with a record score of 53, securing 9 gold medals, 6 silver and 3 bronze! All 15 students placed within top 6 in their respective topics, leading to their record score.

Congratulations to all participants and to TMS Alpha (Aadarsh, Diya, Ishan, Joshika, Kimberly, Naman, Nandika, Neil, Pragathi, Rohan, Ronav, Sachita, Shivank, Sreevats, Suhani) for a stellar performance! TMS Alpha, wearing pink ribbons on their sleeve, is dedicating all their wins this season to breast cancer survivors and to raising breast cancer awareness. On May 14, the team will represent the state of Washington at the Nationals tournament. Best of luck. Go Timberwolves!
