A trio of excellence - Timberline Middle School robotics teams qualify for 2026 VEX Robotics World Championship

Three robotics teams from Timberline Middle School (TMS) have earned spots at the 2026 VEX Robotics World Championship, the world’s largest student robotics competition. This prestigious event brings together top-performing teams from around the globe to compete, collaborate, and celebrate excellence in STEM. According to the Robotics Education & Competition (REC) Foundation, the 2026 championship will take place April 21–30, 2026, at the America’s Center Convention Complex in St. Louis, Missouri.

This year marks a major milestone for TMS, which launched an advanced robotics club using the VEX V5 platform, typically associated with high school-level competition. Students put their engineering, coding and problem‑solving skills to the test at regional and signature events across the country. Their achievements have resulted in three TMS teams qualifying for the world stage.

Team 1840B – Excellence Award Winners (Salt Lake City, Utah)

Competing at a Signature Event in January, Team 1840B earned the Excellence Award, the highest honor presented at a VEX event, recognizing overall excellence in engineering, teamwork, skills performance and judging. This award grants an automatic qualification to the World Championship.

Team Members:

  • Rohan Sukhadia
  • Tanay Gadgil
  • Amogh Durbhakula

Team 84B “Timberline Tech Titans” – VEX IQ Worlds Qualifier

In addition to the advanced V5 teams, Timberline also saw success in the VEX IQ division, where 10 TMS teams competed at the state competition. Team 84B – Timberline Tech Titans earned their place at the VEX IQ World Championship.

Team Members:

  • Abhinav Dasigi
  • Dheeraj Tanaji
  • Viraaj Kapur

The VEX Robotics World Championship gathers student competitors from across the world to participate in the robotics challenge. The event spans 10 days and includes competitions for VEX IQ, VEX V5 and VEX U teams. Beyond match play, students will experience college showcases, STEM industry exhibitors and opportunities to connect with teams from dozens of countries; all in one of the largest STEM celebrations worldwide.
