Timberline Middle School wins regional National Science Bowl, advances to finals in Washington, D.C.

TMS Team 1 science bowl winners

Two teams from Timberline Middle School (TMS) competed at the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Science Bowl (NSB) regional event hosted by the Bonneville Power Administration on Saturday, February 7, at the University of Portland. TMS Team 1 captured the Pacific Northwest Regional Championship, earning a trip to the NSB National Finals in Washington, D.C., April 30 to May 4. Team 1 includes Jayden Hor (8th, captain, physics and chemistry), Alexander Hor (6th, math), Tvesha Joshi (7th, Earth and space science) and Aabha Tyagi (8th, biology).

The National Science Bowl is a nationwide academic competition managed by the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science. Middle and high school teams face off in fast paced, buzzer style rounds that cover biology, chemistry, physics, Earth and space science, energy, and mathematics. Each regional champion advances to the National Finals scheduled for April 30 - May 4 in Washington, D.C.
